Squamous Cell Carcinoma
I was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (skin cancer) in October this year after noticing what looked like a pimple appear on my forehead on August 24 while on my way to LAX to head back to Virginia to see my mom before she passed away. Masha noticed it in the car while she drove me to airport. Honestly I just thought it was a “stress pimple” but after returning home the following week it grew to 1″ diameter and was raised about 1/4″ from my forehead. I tried everything possible and nothing would dry it up. So I just covered it with a round fabric bandaid that matched my skin tone pretty well and hoped it would go away. Of course I researched online and some people indicated that they had stubborn pimples that lasted up to 6 months. Okay. Huh.
My mom died on September 18 so I was heading back to Virginia for funeral and stayed ten days this time only to return with this pimple STILL THERE!! My sister suggested sticking a needle in it to drain it so I did and it was full of blood so I thought “maybe” it was hematoma caused from botox injection on August 23rd. Crazy because after a month a hematoma would have been absorbed by my body. I drained all blood out through several needle pokes but it just filled back up after 4 days. SO WEIRD! At this point I was starting to really get worried. My primary care physician looked at it and was worried it may be cancer. OMG!
I decided to have it biopsied and YES it was Squamous Cell Carcinoma. My plastic surgeon agreed to excise it for me on November 13. I am definitely sporting a pretty good scar. Masha thinks its sexy …. huh. Okay. The scar will eventually turn white and will be pin point thin so in a few months will hardly be noticeable.
